At the end of July 2019, after ten days of hard work, the 50 cm telescope placed by the Department of astronomy of Beijing Normal University at the astronomical site of mushtag in Xinjiang was successfully installed. The telescope is a high-resolution optical telescope jointly built by the Department of astronomy of Beijing Normal University, the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Xinjiang astronomical observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It was developed by Changchun Institute of optical precision machinery and Physics (hereinafter referred to as Changguang Institute) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. As one of the candidate sites for the proposed 12m large-scale optical infrared telescope in China, the astronomical site of mushtag in Xinjiang is a potential world-class excellent site according to the preliminary monitoring results. However, due to its altitude up to 4520m, the site has not been officially developed, and the conditions are hard, so it is very difficult to transport and install the telescope. The teachers of the comprehensive laboratory of astronomy teaching came to the front line and fought with the comrades of Changguang Institute and Xinjiang Observatory for ten days. They overcame all kinds of difficulties, successfully installed the telescope, and conducted on-site debugging of the relevant performance of the telescope.
Now the telescope has entered the stage of remote control and debugging. After nearly a month's debugging and observation, the comprehensive astronomical teaching laboratory has taken images of the moon, Jupiter, Saturn and many Messier celestial bodies. Now, the laboratory plans to collect image processing experts in the Department of astronomy and the Astronomical Society of Beijing Normal University to process such astronomical images, so as to promote the science popularization of telescopes. Candidates will have the opportunity to actually participate in the telescope's long-range observation, and may visit the site of the moustag site in the field.
